The ML8511 is a UV sensor suitable for indoor and outdoor UV intensity detection. iT is equipped with an internal amplifier that converts the photocurrent into voltage depending on the UV intensity. This unique feature provides a simple interface to external circuits such as ADC. In power-down mode, the typical standby current is 0.1A, providing a longer battery life.
This sensor most effectively detects 280-390nm of light. This is categorized as part of the UVB spectrum (burning rays) and the largest part of the UVA spectrum (burning rays). It outputs an analog voltage linearly connected to the measured UV intensity (mW/cm2). If your microcontroller can perform an analog voltage conversion, you can detect the UV level.
