The W5500 chip is a hardwired TCP/IP embedded Ethernet chip that provides an easier Internet connection to embedded systems. It allows users to take advantage of Internet connectivity in their applications simply by using the board in which TCP/IP stacks, 10/100 Ethernet MAC and PHY are embedded. The W5500 Ethernet Board uses a highly efficient SPI protocol that supports 80 MHz speed for high-speed network communication. To reduce power consumption, it also offers WOL (Wake on LAN) and Power Down mode.
It has the same packet size as Arduino Leonardo and is compatible with most Arduino shields and sensors. With a safer and more professional power control chip, the system can work in much more complex environments. And forget about power supply problems as it works with POE power supplies. Practical what?
