Üoverview
The SRF01 is an ultrasonic rangefinder with a single transducer and a very small circuit board. It is connected to a single-pole serial interface. The serial interface is a standard TTL level UART format with 1 start, 1 stop and no parity bits and can be connected directly to many controllers such as the base stamps or the PICAXE. The baud rate on power-up is always 9600, there is a command to change it to 19200 or 38400 baud if desired. Up to 16 SRF01's can be connected via a single bus. Like all our rangefinders, the SRF01 can measure in cm or inches.
Power Requirements
The SRF01 accepts any voltage between 3.3V and 12V, but the recommended maximum is 5.5V. Internally, it operates at 3.3V and there is already a low dropout regulator on the SRF01 that makes this possible. The serial I/O pin operates with 3.3V and 5V tolerance, so you can connect it directly to 3.3V or 5V signals. The operating current during the measuring range is 25mA, 11mA in standby mode (waiting for a command) and approx. 55uA in sleep mode (shutdown).
