Shape memory metals have been developed by NASA for the space industry and are used for more and more applications on Earth. For example, there have been limited studies on the use of these materials in robotics. They make it possible to build very lightweight robots.
The MigaOne is a credit card-sized storage metal actuator with a stroke of 0.325" and three output force options. Weighing less than 12.8 grams (1/2 ounce), the wafer-sized MigaOne is the world's dimmest actuator, standing just one millimeter from the PCB surface. The operating time is ~1.0 second at 5.8V and ~0.1 second at 18V.
nbsp;
MigaOne actuators should be used in conjunction with the Miga Analog Driver V5 - MOSFET Switch, which provides end position detection and a MOSFET power circuit. The MigaOne can be powered by commercially available high-energy batteries or most laboratory power supplies (from 5-30 volts, depending on desired operating time).

>The MigaOne-15 delivers 4.5 pounds of force and uses SMA elements with a diameter of 0.015" and a resistance of 2.7 ohms.
