A loadcell is a load module - a carefully designed metal structure with small elements called strain gauges mounted at exact locations on the structure. Wäge cells are designed to measure a specific force and ignore other forces that occur. This button load cell is designed to measure compression.
This button load cell is used in applications that require a thin form factor. The underside of the load cell is bolted and force applied to the button on the top. By charging only the slightly rounded button, the cell is less sensitive to errors caused by the load not pressing precisely on the cell.
