Overview
The Sharp distance sensors are a popular choice for many projects that require accurate distance measurements. This special sensor is small and affordable, making it an attractive alternative to sonar rangefinders, while its wide detection range and resistance to ambient IR interference make it different from other IR rangefinders. With the ability to measure distances up to 10 cm to 150 cm (4 inches), this sensor has the largest range of any Sharp distance sensor and its 60 Hz update rate is more than twice that of Sharp's older GP2Y0A02YK0F analog distance sensor, which has a similar measurement range.
>However, this sensor requires external components and has a non-standard 1.5 mm pitch, which can make integration into projects with a 0.1" pitch difficult. We offer two carrier boards for this sensor that greatly simplify handling by accommodating these required components and providing a 0.1″ pitch, four-pole interface, ground, power, analog voltage output and enable. The 5V truck board, available individually or with the sensor pre-installed, configures the sensor for 5V mode with a recommended operating voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V; the 3V truck board, also available individually or with the sensor pre-installed, configures the sensor for 3V mode with a recommended operating voltage range of 2.7V to 3.6V; the 3V truck board, also available individually or with the sensor pre-installed, configures the sensor for 3V mode with a recommended operating voltage range of 2.7V to 3.6V.
